Services provided include screening, evaluation, preschool instruction, speech/language therapy, developmental instruction, physical/occupational therapy, counseling, and other services as needed at no cost to the family. If you suspect a child may have a disability you can contact us by phone at 479-267-5960 and we will be glad to assist you.
The process for determining eligibility may include the following steps:
- Screening:If the child has not been previously evaluated we may conduct a screening to determine if further evaluations are warranted. Five developmental areas (motor, concepts, language, self-help, and social) may be screened as well as hearing and vision.
- Referral Conference: If the screening indicates further evaluations are needed we will set up a conference to obtain parent permission to conduct an evaluation.
- Conduct the Evaluation
- Programming Conference: We will set up a conference to discuss the evaluation data and determine if services are appropriate.
If services are needed an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) will be developed at the Programming Conference. The IEP will state what services are appropriate to meet the child’s needs. Services can be provided in a variety of settings, including preschool and Head Start classrooms, a self-contained classroom, private homes, and central locations such as churches, libraries, youth centers, community buildings, and school facilities. The staff works on an itinerant basis traveling to area school districts providing services to preschool children in the most appropriate environment.
